#8 Stage 3 - Design Development

A well developed design with only minimal details to be finalised.

 

1:1 Scale Mock-up Model

 

I made a 1:1 scale Mock-up model of the chair at the university workshop - using 5mm plywood for all the components. This enabled me to visualise and further understand the mechanics of the chair.

It helped me identify the weak points - such as the need to add bracing to the back to add stability and keep the chair from shaking.

I understood how the upper and lower parts would come together by changing the back support profile and there by improve the final design of the chair.
